Warren College
The Warren College Writing Program is one of eight writing programs at UC San Diego. Embedded in Earl Warren College, the program aligns its curriculum with the college's theme, “A life in balance,” and the college's namesake, former Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren. Taken together, they challenge Warren students, faculty, staff and administrators to place issues of justice, fairness, and equity squarely in the balance of our teaching and learning.
The program comprises a two-course sequence for incoming first-year students: Warren Writing 10A and Warren Writing 10B. Incoming transfer students take Warren Writing 100.
In these courses, the Warren Writing program empowers students with the writing knowledge, habits and skills needed to analyze the historical origins of 21st century, real-world problems. Students learn to listen, question, and engage with differing perspectives as they discover what they stand for, what they believe, and why. We provide students with the communicative tools needed to write clearly, effectively, and compassionately to a variety of audiences about the solutions most needed to restore balance and equity in our communities.
