Department Statement:
The mission of the Acquisitions Department is to acquire or facilitate timely patron access to materials which fit the Library’s collection development policy. Materials will be acquired as promptly and as cost effectively as possible for both the Case and Cooley Libraries. This position supports that mission by ordering or securing access to media materials requested by Colgate faculty in both physical and online formats, and investigating access problems. The position also provides ongoing backup and/or assistance in working with other materials such as serials and books as requested by the Serials Paraprofessional and Acquisitions Supervisor.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining unit, SEIU, Local 200United – Libraries, Mail Services and IT Technicians and is scheduled to work 30 hours per week.

College degree (associates or above), or an equivalent combination of education and library experience.

Work Schedule:

The Campus Safety Department will provide upon request a copy of Colgate’s Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This report includes statistics as reported to the United States Department of Education for the previous three years concerning reported: 1. crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Colgate University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus and 2. fires that occurred in student housing facilities. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security and fire safety, such as policies concerning sexual assault, life safety systems, and other related matters.
