Overview

Cardinal Stritch University is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Small Group Leader for the San Damiano Encounter, a faith-based leadership program for high school students. Each small group leader works collaboratively with a team of colleagues to implement activities, lead discussions, and facilitate the learning and growth of participants in the San Damiano Encounter.  As a small group leader, your primary responsibility is to guide and support the members of your small group in making connections between their lives, their faith, and their involvement in the world.

 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training for Small Group Leaders during the week before the encounter (July 17th)
  • Reside on campus during the training and during the week of the San Damiano Encounter (July 22nd-29th), attending and helping to facilitate all activities during the week
  • Facilitate discussion and reflection of participants, maintaining a welcoming climate in small group
  • Develop relationships with Encounter students, acting as role model and leader
  • Provide appropriate guidance and behavioral management to students
  • Inform Managing Director and Program Director of any concerns or problems
  • Assist with program evaluation
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

 

Qualifications

  • The individual shall have completed at least two years of college, preferably with a major in religious studies or education
  • The individual shall be Christian with an active faith life – practicing Catholic preferred
  • Must have some experience in campus ministry, youth ministry, or summer camp
