Job Description


The Comprehensive Studies Department is looking for a collaborative, energetic, and innovative Instructor to teach classes in Developmental and Transitional Mathematics, which range from Basic Mathematics to Intermediate Algebra. This position also includes teaching in the Math + Flex Lab, which offers on demand, individual, just-in-time instruction for students in all levels of Developmental and Transitional Mathematics.

This position may include a possible Program Director appointment and offers opportunities to grow into other leadership roles within the department.
 Applicants should have:

  • an interest or background in a learning outcome-based curriculum 
  • an interest or background in active learning and discovery learning strategies 
  • a flexible teaching style to meet the needs of the students  
  • the ability to explain mathematics in context 
  • an interest in and commitment to promoting the cognitive and affective growth of students 
  • an interest or background in teaching the soft skills needed to be successful in a Mathematics course, like notetaking, study skills and reading comprehension 
  • an interest in and commitment to helping students overcome Mathematics and testing anxieties 

Classes are offered during the day and evening and at various locations throughout the 3-county area.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mathematics OR bachelor's degree in related field with a master's degree in mathematics OR a master's degree in related field with at least 18 graduate hours in mathematics.


Experience teaching comparable classes at the community college level; The ability to adapt the way you convey knowledge to match the student’s need; The ability to work in teams or independently; Experience working with underprepared students from diverse backgrounds; Knowledge of mindset and how it affects student learning, especially in Mathematics; Have taken Mathematics for Educator style classes.
