Postdoctoral Fellow, Molecular and Cell Biology Laboratory, Dr. Christina Towers

We have multiple post-doctoral positions available in the Towers lab. Our work combines basic cell biology techniques and physiologically relevant cancer models to ask how cancer cells adapt when essential cellular recycling processes are blocked. We are looking for self-motivated and inquisitive scientist to join the team. Applicants should have a solid background in cancer biology and/or cell biology techniques with an eagerness to learn more. Additional skills in mouse models of cancer, optogenetics, cell metabolism, autophagy, and/or mitochondrial biology would be preferred.  To learn more about the lab here: https://towers.salk.edu/

Responsibilities:

• Perform investigational studies to understand how cancer models to ask how cancer cells adapt when essential cellular recycling processes are blocked.
• Perform cell biology experiments and/or perform in-vivo experiments in animal models such as mice or zebra fish.
• Execute experiments independently and contribute to collaborative projects.
• Write grants and manuscripts for publishing. (if applicable for this role)
• Train and supervise junior staff and participate in overall lab management.
• Analyze and present data at local and national meetings.

Education

PhD in Biological Sciences, Cellular/Molecular Biology or related fields.
