The Construction Supervisor will perform a variety of capital project construction management, administrative, and technical duties primarily in the area of facility design, construction supervision, and project management for Baltimore City Community College facilities.
The candidate shall serve as the College's construction supervisor for all capital and operating budget projects, including deferred maintenance and Facility Grant Renewal projects - both large projects and multiple small projects - from the design phase through the warranty phase.
The candidate shall be knowledgeable of the principles and practices of modern building construction. Serve as technical representative for construction and renovation projects; Inspects facilities to assess engineering or architectural needs and prepare reports detailing conditions and work required.
The candidate shall oversee the project construction to ensure compliance with plans and specifications according to the schedule and develop construction work programs and schedules in coordination with contractors for all capital and operating projects.
The candidate shall prepare and submit weekly project observation reports to Asst. Dir. for Capital Projects. The candidate shall establish College's quality control programs, including construction budget tracking protocols, field inspection standards, construction standards, and project close-out processes including scheduling final and punch lists.
The candidate shall review design, criteria, specifications, and drawings including RFI's and submittal responses for facility projects prepared by consultants (architect/engineering firms) for ensuring compliance with sound architectural and engineering practices and established standards, codes, regulations, and of their technical efficacy related to proper building construction. Recommend to the Asst. Dir. for Capital Projects changes necessary to ensure compliance with established standards, codes and State/DGS regulations
The candidate supports the Asst. Dir. for Capital Projects on various major multi-year capital construction projects from program initiation through design and post-construction stages and attends various project design review, pre-bid, construction progress, and post-construction meetings to respond to inquiries concerning projects, ensures compliance with project program and design standards, contract specifications, applicable building codes, and sound planning practices.
The candidate supports the Asst. Dir. for Capital Projects in the preparation of required documents for the Board of Trustees and the Board of Public Works for initial approvals and for change order requests for ongoing projects. The candidate supports the Asst. Dr. for Capital Projects in preparing and presenting detailed technical reports and recommendations on construction problems.
Education:
Bachelors or Master professional degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Sciences or Construction Management.
Experience:
Candidate must demonstrate ten (10) years of experience in project construction, project management, architectural design, construction.
