ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
FACULTY OF SOCIAL WORK, UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA

The University of Manitoba Faculty of Social Work invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2022. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Candidates must have at least one social work degree from an accredited university and must hold or be near completion of a PhD or DSW in social work or a related discipline at the time of application.

The preferred areas of research, teaching, and professional experience will be in one or more of the three following areas: Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities. Individuals who combine mindfulness teaching, research, and practice with one of the preferred areas, are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates who qualify will be expected to develop a strong and ongoing program of research and publications and must be able to demonstrate an understanding of diverse health perspectives and intersectionality.

Duties/responsibilities include teaching, research and service to the faculty, community, and profession. Candidates must have the ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate students and will be expected to offer courses in one or more of the following areas: health, mental health, and disabilities. Successful candidate will have opportunities to teach core courses at the undergraduate and graduate level and to develop courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Familiarity with multiple modes of course delivery is expected.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience and research in the following areas of knowledge: 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices, Indigenous Ways of Knowing and decolonization, and decolonizing health care.

The Faculty of Social Work is one of the largest social work programs in Canada, with a proud history of teaching, research and service spanning over 75 years. The Faculty offers the Bachelor, Master, and PhD degrees in Social Work. We offer an established innovative MSW program based in Indigenous Knowledges. Our Faculty is actively engaged in research and academic publication on a wide variety of topics, and the University of Manitoba is part of the U15 group of research intensive Canadian universities.
