Overview:
Cardinal Stritch University is currently seeking a qualified candidate for our School of Business. In collaboration with the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Assistant Dean provides the structural backbone and the leadership direction of the School of Business. He/she has a scholarly vision and exceptional qualities in his/her ability to develop and advance the School’s distinctive mission, goals, and identity. Specifically, the Assistant Dean provides leadership for and coordination of undergraduate and graduate business programs. That leadership includes working with the Dean and others to develop a strategic vision for the School and to assess resource needs, student success, and continuous improvement. The Assistant Dean has faculty status, reports directly to the Dean of the College, and supervises the undergraduate and graduate business chairs.

Leadership
- Provides leadership of the School of Business and works with the Dean and Associate Dean on the strategic direction and vision for the School
- Works with the College leadership, faculty, and staff to assure the academic quality and integrity of all programs in the School, informed by processes such as assessment of learning outcomes, student course evaluations, and end of program evaluations
- Serves on University and College committees and collaborates with other administrators in a team environment. As a member of the College leadership team, the Assistant Dean is responsible for creating and maintaining in the School of Business an open, ethical, and inclusive environment focused on student learning and success
- Supports the accreditation process in the continuous review and improvement of all programs in the School
Administrative
- Works with the Associate Dean to assure compliance with accreditation standards as applicable
- In collaboration with the Assistant to the Dean/designee, oversees the development of individual faculty load and assignments
- In collaboration with the Chairs and Associate Dean, oversees scheduling of courses
- Works with chairs in curriculum development in areas such as new and/or modified programs as well as online and blended courses
- Works with the Dean, Associate Dean, chairs, and College and University offices to resolve faculty, staff, and student issues within the School
Human Resources
- Directs efforts to support and retain effective faculty and staff
- Completes performance evaluations for Department Chairs and staff as appropriate
- Promotes diversity in the work/educational environment
External Relations
- Assists the Dean in providing visibility and leadership to the School of Business as related to marketing, networking, support of new initiatives, new programs, funding requests, etc.
- Works in collaboration with Enrollment Management to market, network, support new initiatives
- Works with the Associate Dean and others on campus to identify, review, and apply for grants and funding sources for their appropriateness to School programs and faculty research interests
Internal Relations
- Works with the Dean to develop talents of faculty and staff through appropriate delegation
- Works with the Associate Dean to orient and mentor new faculty, staff, and chairs to the School and to job responsibilities
- Oversees goal development of individual faculty and staff members
- In order to learn from and respond to community needs, the Assistant Dean may teach courses in the School for additional compensation
- Other duties may be assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- The Assistant Dean of the School of Business will supervise the following individuals:
- Undergraduate Business Chair
- Graduate Business Chair
Preferred and Required Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. or terminal degree (preferred) in a relevant field within the School of Business
- A record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and/or professional activity
- A minimum of three years of successful administrative experience in a relevant field
- Demonstrates initiative, motivation, discipline, organization, and time management
- Relevant experience includes but is not limited to
- data collection, analysis, and interpretation
- strategic planning
- project management and assessment
- accreditation processes and requirements
- assessment and evaluation of student learning
- use of quality improvement techniques
- use of innovation and creativity to deliver high quality programming to students
