FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Mathematics at the College of Staten Island is accepting applications for three Lecturer lines starting Fall 2022. The successful candidates shall have demonstrated enthusiasm and success with teaching and curriculum development. These lines are intended to increase the number of full-time faculty members whose primary focus is teaching and direct student engagement.
It is expected that the candidates will be able to teach courses in the department at all levels of its undergraduate curriculum. The Lecturer position is eligible for a Certificate of Continuing Employment after five years. Although the Lecturer position has no requirement of research publications, it is expected, by our research active department, that successful candidates will demonstrate mathematical interest outside of teaching responsibilities.
The department houses the College's Teacher Education Honors Academy designed to educate a new generation of exceptional teachers who will inspire in middle and high school students enthusiasm for science and mathematics. Amongst the new hires, we expect one or more to materially participate within this program as part of their regular service requirements. Specific related experience in math teachers' education, including grant writing and outcome assessment, will be considered favorably by the hiring committee.
These lecturer lines are part of a CUNY-wide effort to increase faculty diversity. Affiliation with either https://minoritymath.org/ or https://www.nam-math.org/ will be considered favorably by the hiring committee.
