Open Rank Clinical Anatomy Educator-Scholar with Potential for Tenure Track
The Department of Neurobiology and Anatomical Sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center invites applications for an educator scholar with skills to teach in the anatomical sciences and conduct educational research.
Qualified applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) in an anatomical science or science education field, or from a related discipline. The position will require teaching in one or more of the applicant’s preferred anatomical content areas (embryology & developmental anatomy, histology & cell biology, neuroscience & neuroanatomy, and/or gross anatomy). Opportunities are available to teach medical, dental, graduate, and other health professions students. The ideal candidate will contribute to the educational research of our Clinical Anatomy PhD program and mentor Clinical Anatomy PhD students. We encourage various types of educational research projects focused on health care education and seek candidates with the potential to carry out quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods research projects. Our faculty are engaged in multiple research projects and include areas such as neuroscience education, educator training in occupational and physical therapy programs, and analyzing standardized admissions metrics in health care education.
The rank is open and may be tenure or non-tenure track depending on qualifications and candidates with all levels of experience are encouraged to apply. Welcome to the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomical Sciences! We are a vibrant department committed to excellence in research, teaching and service.
We are committed to expanding neuroscience at UMMC by recruiting research-intensive faculty from all branches of neurobiology. Our current areas of study include sensory and motor systems, neural development, circadian rhythms, neuroendocrine mechanisms and the neurobiology of reward and motivation. We are also building translational bridges with our clinical partners and helping enlarge the graduate program in Neuroscience.
Our Division of Clinical Anatomy oversees MS and PhD programs which train the field’s future educators. In addition, the division studies new approaches for teaching anatomy to medical, dental and other health sciences students.
