Detailed Job Description
The School of Information at RIT invites applications for a Lecturer position, beginning August 2022. The successful candidate will be able to teach a broad range of courses in relational and non-relational databases, database information requirements modeling, database application development, data warehousing, and related areas. In particular, we seek candidates who can demonstrate knowledge and experience in two or more of the following areas:

  • Requirements and Data Modeling
  • Design, Implementation, and Use of Relational and/or Non-Relational Databases
  • Management of Relational Databases and/or Non-Relational Databases (DBA)
  • Creation of the Data Layer in a Fullstack environment (including Data Access Objects and data access protocols)
  • Database Application Development
  • Data Warehousing

Successful candidates will have the ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, engage students, and perform department service.

The College:
Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at RIT is one of the most comprehensive computing colleges in the nation. The college is housed in modern facilities in Rochester, NY, that include leading programs in computer science, game design and cybersecurity. As home to the country’s first undergraduate programs in software engineering and information technology, as well as the recently opened Global Cybersecurity Institute, Golisano College has long been a leader in computing education and research. The Department:
The School of Information (the iSchool) is one of six administrative units within the College of Computing and Information Sciences; the School creates and applies knowledge in the field of information science, to bring together people, information, and technology. The iSchool oversees academic and curricula development for both undergraduate, and graduate students, pursuing degrees in three undergraduate BS programs, four graduate programs, and an advanced certificate program - including programs in computing and information technologies, human-computer interaction, data science and analytics, and web and mobile computing. The iSchool provides leadership, administrative, financial, and logistical support to more than 700 undergraduate and graduate students with 28 faculty and 7 staff in Rochester, and also provides support of the School's degrees at RIT's global campuses in Croatia, Kosovo, and UAE. The School is among the university leaders in terms of grant generation and publications, and faculty include winners of university awards for teaching and research, as well as professional leaders, including ACM SIG chairs. The School is also home to several labs and research centers, especially in the areas of human-computer interaction, accessibility, and data analytics. The School also plays a large research and delivery role in the university's Computing for All efforts, to foster greater inclusion in computing and information sciences.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field by the start date of the appointment.

  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
