The Associate Provost, Educational Effectiveness (APEE) and Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) provides leadership in the areas of institutional research, assessment, and the regional accreditation process. Serving as the Accreditation Liaison Office to WSCUC, the APEF is well versed in data and institutional research issues related to higher education; accreditation standards; academic policies and procedures; surveys/survey administration; assessment methods in higher education; administrative data systems; and environmental factors affecting higher education. The position requires conceptualizing and completing complex “special projects” including those involving data gathering, analysis, and report writing. Communication, computer, and technology solutions skills are essential.

The Associate Provost, Educational Effectiveness will be dedicated to providing service and expert assistance to academic and non-academic administration, faculty, students, and staff at the University. They will exhibit the highest professional and ethical standards and will be committed to the tenets of Alliant International University's mission and vision.

The APEE will preferrably be located in the San Diego area, or near any one of our other five California campuses. There will be flexibility for remote work.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and implement ongoing activities and special projects related to the University's strategic agenda and goals in the institutional research area
• Work with the University's leadership team to provide leadership and support for all aspects of WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) accreditation activities including all accreditation/reaccreditation activities, submisssions and reporting, substantive change proposals, and annual and other program reporting.
• Develop, support and ensure university and program learning outcomes assessment and program review processes, both academic and co-curricular.
• Collect and report required BPPE data for performance facts sheets.
• Provide requested data to internal departments regarding the university.
• Provide leadership in designing, implementing, analyzing, reporting and collecting statistical and demographic research related to enrollment, tuition, academic program viability and productivity, strategic planning, student outcomes assessment, and instructional and institutional effectiveness.
• Assist in developing and maintaining institutional databases and preparing data and/or reports that support school and program accreditations, e.g., APA, CCTC, ACBSP, COAMFTE, CACREP
• Coordinate data collection across the university and maintain databases that provide annual and longitudinal assessment of key performance indicators of programs and the institution's effectiveness.
• Consult with university groups on planning and policy matters as they are impacted by the institutional data including providing alternative scenarios, recommendations, and other information essential for institutional effectiveness.
• Manage the course evaluation system.
• Keep abreast of trends that impact higher education and accreditation that may affect Alliant and develop environmental scanning reports as required.
• Assist the Provost in staffing and supporting the Academic, Faculty and Student Success Committee of the Board of Trustees.
• Complete surveys and provide survey data as requested by external entities, both governmental and non-governmental.
• Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.

Skills:

• Competence with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Proficiency with statistical packages (such as SPSS or SAS) and SQL strongly recommended.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, supervision skills.
• General knowledge of higher education, Federal, State and other external agency reporting requirements and surveys.
• Effective skills to interact effectively with internal and external constituencies.
• Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative research, including design, data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Ability to prepare reports that communicate analyses and research findings in an effective manner.
• Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse background.
• Proven ability to work effectively as a team player.
• Highly motivated, focused and results oriented.
• Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal contacts, and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks according to required deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
• Experience:
  • Five (5) year's prior progressive experience in higher education institutional research, assessment and educational effectiveness, accreditation higher education operations, surveys/survey tools, data extraction and analysis or statistical work in the collection, compilation, and analysis of learing outcomes and other institutional data.
  • Experience working with large databases, including extracting, evaluating and manipulating data for reporting and analytical purposes using query tools and/or programming language (e.g., SQL) and knowledge of research design, statistical procedures and analysis.
