Min T/E Requirements:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or be ABD in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field, and possess experience in teaching or industry, research interests, and relevant ongoing or planned publications. Expertise in two or more of the following IT and CS areas data science, DBMS, machine learning, software engineering, object-oriented programming, operating systems, digital logic, HCI, video game development, mobile application development, and cybersecurity.

Job Description:

The candidate will be expected to effectively teach a variety of IT and CS courses, advise and mentor students, and engage in scholarship and professional service. The courses taught to cover all levels of an undergraduate program in topic areas such as programming languages (Java, C++), object-oriented programming, event-driven programming, computer architecture, software engineering, web technology & security, operating system design and security, network & security, digital logic and design, human-computer interactions, video game development, data science, machine learning, and database management. We are particularly interested in expanding our capabilities in mobile application development and cyber security. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively through spoken, written, and visual media.

Salary and academic rank are commensurately depending on directly related education and experience level. A Ph.D. is required for the Assistant Professor position. Candidates who are ABD could start at Instructor rank and salary, and move to Assistant Professor after successful completion of the Ph.D. In such an event that an Instructor is hired who is ABD, said the candidate would be expected to complete the Ph.D. within one year of the official start date at UNC Pembroke.
