The College of Pharmacy, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba, Canada invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured position at all ranks in the area of Pharmacoeconomics. This position will support the continued growth of the college’s research and teaching mission. It will complement research underway on medication use and safety at the population level and at the clinical level.
Qualified applicants should have a PhD degree with postdoctoral fellowship or equivalent degree and training in pharmacoeconomics or in a related field. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing an independent research program, ideally in pharmacoeconomics or a closely allied field such as health services research. To be considered at the Associate or Full Professor level, candidates should have an independent program of research, with a combination of strong record of publications, grants and relevant scholarly activity. There are significant opportunities for collaboration within Pharmacy, with a pharmacoepidemiology core, as well as with researchers in medicine, nursing, dentistry, and rehabilitation sciences. Collaborative opportunities also include links with Community Health sciences, Global Public Health, in Indigenous health through the Ongomiizwin Institute for Health and Healing, and having access to one of the country’s most comprehensive health database through the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy.
Excellence in teaching, research and service, is the focus of academic activities. Teaching will be expected both in the professional Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program and in the graduate program, including supervision of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. The individual will be expected to provide service to the College of Pharmacy and the University. Leadership opportunities may also be available at the associate or full professor ranks. The position is anticipated to start on July 1, 2022 or at a time to be negotiated. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in accordance with the University of Manitoba Faculty Association Collective Agreement.
The College of Pharmacy is located in a state-of-the-art 90,000 sq. feet Apotex Centre on the Bannatyne Campus at the University of Manitoba, and in close proximity to other Health Science Colleges and teaching hospitals. The College has a long history of excellence in pharmacy education and research. It is a part of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, situated on a dynamic campus that provides opportunities for interprofessional collaboration in health sciences research and education. Members of the College collaborate closely with several tertiary teaching hospitals of the Winnipeg Region Health Authority (WRHA), one of the largest and most diverse health regions in Canada, serving the city of Winnipeg and the rural municipalities. WRHA also supports many Institutes and Research Centres, working closely with the University of Manitoba, such as the St. Boniface Albrechtsen Research Centre, which is home to the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine (CCARM), the Division of Neurodegenerative Disorders (DND), and the Division of Neurodegenerative Disorders (DND); Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM).
