Assistant Professor, Digital Media Production

Tenure Track Position

 

Mount Saint Mary College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Digital Media Production in its Communication, Art, and Digital Media (CADM) program.  The successful candidate should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and experiential learning in a liberal arts context, and experience in building and supporting local and regional partnerships with media industries.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Candidate must have expertise in: Digital Video Production, TV Studio Production, as well as well-rounded knowledge of Media Ethics and Cinema Studies. We are looking for a well-qualified generalist.
  • Experience in supervising student-driven projects in digital storytelling, media writing, and sight, sound, and motion.
  • Ability to teach hands-on digital content creation with expert knowledge of appropriate Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Relationships with New York City and/or Mid-Hudson Valley area advertising, marketing, and media professionals a plus.

 

The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, service to the College, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in College-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively with colleagues, including during Admissions recruitment events, and participation in traditional academic functions.

  • Promote student success through engaging instruction, accessibility, and rigor.
  • Embrace an inclusive pedagogy, which includes the ability to meet the needs of individual students, cover inclusive topics, and incorporate diverse sources into the curriculum.
  • Uphold the values of the Dominican foundations of the College.
  • Provide differential instruction with high expectations and support for students of varied preparedness levels.
  • Evaluate student performance in accordance with student learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabi.
  • Conduct student evaluations of instruction in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Attend Program/Division/College-wide meetings as called by the CADM Program Director, Arts & Letters Division Chair, Dean, and/or Vice President for Academic Affairs.
  • Participate in professional development activities as required.
  • Participate in all Program/Division/College-wide assessment practices.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Professional Qualifications

 

  • Candidate must have an MFA in Media Production or an appropriate field, along with teaching experience at the college level.
  • Consideration will also be given to candidates with two years of college level teaching experience and a minimum of five years of closely related field/industry professional experience.
