The Coordinator, Continuing Education plans, coordinates, evaluates, and supervises recreation and leisure and lifelong learning courses throughout the service area of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. Supervises full time, adjunct, and volunteer staff. This position prepares and monitors the budget; represents Continuing Education by serving in an advisory capacity on various local community boards, councils, and agencies; initiates, develops, supervises, and evaluates continuing education classes, courses, programs, and workshops, including recreation and leisure, lifelong learning, and contract classes; coordinates programs to include existing programs and the development of new programs for the citizens of the service community; and recruits, hires, and evaluates adjunct faculty.
The Coordinator, Continuing Education provides statistical reports and schedules of recreation and leisure and lifelong learning courses; plans, markets, promotes, and publicizes a mix of recreation and leisure and lifelong learning courses; plans, markets, coordinates, and supervises Kids College; and actively works to recruit new students for Continuing Education programs and collaborates with local community groups to offer Continuing Education courses.
The selected candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends; manage, monitor, and report on projects that warrant attention by appropriate staff members; keep abreast of Recreation and Leisure trends; be able to work independently, plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; create budgets and monitor budgetary expenditures; and have the ability to hire, train, and evaluate support staff.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree, one-year full-time work experience including any of the following: developing credit or non-credit courses/programs, and/or managing/administering courses/seminars/workshops/programs, and a valid driver’s license. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
SALARY RANGE: $34,320.00 – $36,000.00 Depending upon qualifications, the salary is negotiable.
