Job Description

 

Benedict College seeks a strategic, collaborative, innovative and transformational leader and executive, with demonstrated experience managing a robust academic portfolio, to serve as Dean of the School of Education, Health and Human Services, at an exciting time in the College’s history.

 

Prospective applicants please note: Effective December 31, 2022, certified degree programs in education will be eliminated.  This will allow the next Dean of the School to reimagine the School’s programs that currently include undergraduate and/or graduate degree and certificate programs in: child and family development, esports administration, psychology, public health, social work, and sport management (BS &MS).

The Dean will be report directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and will serve as a member of the VPAA’s leadership team, a trusted advisor and advocate for all faculty, students and staff in the School. This is a significant opportunity for a visionary higher education leader with broad academic administrative experience in higher education. He or she will be a strategic thinker, a good communicator and listener, able to innovate and effect change, and serve as the face of the School.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree in a discipline of the school
  • Demonstrated success in enhancing student learning outcomes and management of faculty to do the same
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse constituencies
  • Earned the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor
  • Demonstrated higher education administrative experience of at least five (5) years
