The Police Chief directs and coordinates the activities of the LC Police Department, provides leadership for a full range of Campus Police programs and services designed to meet the needs of an educational institution and represents the department and college with local, regional, state and national law enforcement agencies, committees and organizations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experienced in the use of personal computer software programs such as Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of principles and practices of law enforcement, techniques of criminal investigations, police report writing, traffic control procedures;
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
Ability to demonstrate human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective work relations with students, employees and the public.
Ability to be self-directed and demonstrate effective leadership and management skills.
Supervises all police officers both campuses, two campus police telecommunications operators and part time police aides.
The Police Chief is under the supervision of the College President.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Work-inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most the time.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Work may also be required in an outside environment.

Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
Immediate supervisor may assign other duties.
May be required to work outside regular working hours, as needed.
May be required to work at a different college work site or campus as needed.
