About the John E. Jaqua Law Library:
Located inside the Knight Law Center on the University campus, the John E. Jaqua Law Library supports the legal education program of the Law School. The Law School enrolls over 500 students in its JD, LLM, and master's degree programs, and over 400 undergraduate students in its legal studies minor. The Law Library is part of the unified UO Libraries system and law librarians are members of the UO Libraries career faculty. The Law Library offers courses on legal research skills, assists faculty with scholarship, and provides enhanced learning spaces. In partnership with the UO Libraries, the Law Library provides comprehensive legal collections that support the Law School curriculum, special programs, and campus legal research needs.

Position Summary
The John E. Jaqua Law Library seeks an enthusiastic, creative, and service-oriented team player to fill a position that contributes essential research services and instruction to the educational mission of the UO Law School. We are excited to add to a reference team whose collaborative approach benefits from the unique strengths each librarian brings to our shared support of Law School and related University programs. The successful candidate will enjoy the support of highly experienced and collegial library staff, and the warm support of the Law School community. As a member of the UO Libraries system, your career growth as a law librarian will be further enhanced by a rich, multi-disciplinary network of library professionals.

As a member of the reference team, the Law Reference Librarian provides extensive reference, instructional, and research services for sophisticated, research-oriented faculty and students in a technologically advanced information environment. The person in this position will teach legal research skills, including individualized research consultations with students; support faculty scholarship; perform collection development services including the selection of library materials; work collaboratively with other librarians on team projects; and participate in departmental planning activities.

The person in this position reports to the Senior Law Reference Librarian and is expected to engage in service to the University, UO Libraries, and community through work on committees and similar groups; participate in appropriate professional development activities and organizations to stay current with trends and practices in the field; meet UO Libraries faculty criteria for promotion and retention, and contribute to the University's goals regarding equity and inclusion.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
• Master's Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution by time of appointment.
• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited program by time of appointment.

Professional Competencies
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Mastery of basic legal research sources and techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and/or provide instruction.
• Database and Internet searching proficiencies.
• Knowledge of legal information sources and related technologies.
• Ability to achieve results in a collaborative environment.
• Strong service orientation.
• Commitment to learning new and emerging technologies.
• Ability to support and enhance a collegial, cooperative, and diverse working and learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Reference and/or instructional experience in an academic law library.
• Experience providing classroom instruction.
• Experience using LibGuides.
