  Job Description:

  The Department Head, Humanities and Social Sciences is a 12-month administrative position with an anticipated start date of Summer, 2022, although a different start date may be negotiated.  The Department Head will manage day-to-day operations of the department, supervise all programs offered by the department, develop course schedules, make faculty course assignments, supervise and evaluate departmental faculty and staff, manage the departmental budget, advise students, review and update departmental curricula, hire and supervise adjunct faculty, work toward the resolution of student complaints, serve on College committees, oversee planning and assessment activities, and perform other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Senior Dean, Academic Affairs.

   

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master’s degree. Must be qualified by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) to teach in one of the following departmental disciplines: Education, Foreign Language, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Political Science, or Sociology. Four years related full-time post-secondary teaching or administrative experience are required. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

   

  Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.  Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position.  A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

   

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Prefer terminal degree; administrative experience in post-secondary education; and demonstrated academic leadership.

   

  SALARY RANGE:  $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 (Depending on the qualifications, the salary is negotiable.)
