Job Description

D’Youville College invites nominations for, and inquiries and applications from, individuals interested in taking on a transformational leadership opportunity as the Director of Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Simulation. D’Youville is an innovative, private, coeducational institution serving 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students on the vibrant West Side of Buffalo, NY.

D’Youville is launching a new health professions hub to provide a healthcare clinic, educational and workforce development opportunities, and new connections to the surrounding neighborhood. With academic programs organized into four schools: Health Professions, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Arts, Sciences and Education, the college is committed to interprofessional education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Interprofessional education and simulation are hallmarks of the institution. D’Youville is also constructing a $20 million (HECAP funded) state of the art Health Profession Hub built to directly address the healthcare workforce shortage by providing hands-on experiential learning, interprofessional virtual simulation, and a healthcare clinic for the underserved. The Director of IPE and Simulation will start in September 2019 and report to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Under new leadership, D’Youville is immersed in ambitious change initiatives to further grow enrollment, improve health outcomes, and profoundly impact student success. Comprehensive strategic planning underway includes academic planning, technology planning, and significant investments in vital updates to campus facilities. Dedicated to building thriving, healthy communities, D’Youville is nurturing new and existing community partnerships. Buffalo, the second largest city in New York, is home to 21 institutions of higher education, numerous cultural attractions, two professional sports teams, and year-round outdoor activities. D’Youville is located in close proximity to Lake Erie, Niagara Falls, and Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The College seeks a Director of IPE and Simulation who will lead strategic visioning and execute bold innovations for the Simulation Center being created in the HUB. The Director will provide compelling leadership for inclusive excellence as D’Youville strives to expand opportunity to diverse learners historically underrepresented in higher education and workforce development in the community.

The Director of IPE and Simulation is a full-time administrative position, with responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Simulation Center planning, budgeting, and grant writing
  • Collaboration with the IPEC Steering Committee in strategic planning and direction of the IPE and Simulation curricula and other IPE activities
  • Collaboration with the Director of IT to manage technology for the Center to remain in full compatibility with the College IT infrastructure
  • Lead the planning of the design and usability of the Health Professions HUB simulation Center with the HUB advisory committee, outside vendors and internal IT department
  • Work with the IPEC Curriculum support staff in identifying simulation education and research opportunities for the Center’s internal and external clients.
  • Manage Simulation Center Staff
