Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Advisor/Work Study Coordinator provides oversight to Baltimore City Community College's participation in the Work Study program. This position also administers the off-campus Work Study program, which engages with off-campus agencies to provide student employment opportunities within the community. The position is routinely tasked to perform detailed work involving the compliant awarding and reconciliation of work study funds, and with respect to off-campus and on-campus employment functions related to timekeeping, payroll invoicing, correction processing, and ensuring compliance with community service and job location & development thresholds.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with professional experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated understanding of federal campus-based work-study financial aid program requirements, including common elements, and funding processes
  • Excellent written communications skills, as demonstrated by application materials submitted
  • A personal or professional commitment to diversity as demonstrated by persistent learning effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity outcomes
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by the proposed start date; College will not provide visa sponsorship for this position
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment subject to frequent change
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide services to a diverse student population
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment
  • Proficiency using standard office software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Familiarity working with school-based record/data systems/software (e.g., Banner)
  • Ability to apply moderately complex rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Three or more years of experience working in a Financial Aid Office with direct experience performing verification and awarding student financial aid with specific Title IV programs (i.e., Pell Grants, FWS, or state aid such as MHEC)
