Job Description


The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Sciences at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for multiple nine-month, non-tenure earning instructors or lecturers anticipated to begin August 2022.


The successful candidates will contribute to the Games and Interactive Media program's mission by teaching foundations, web, and/or games courses. Appropriate specializations may include areas such as game development, web design, social media, mobile and responsive design, virtual/augmented/mixed reality, and technical art. Faculty teaching responsibilities will support the Digital Media B. A. (with specializations in Web and Game Design).


By the time of appointment, applicants must hold a master's (for an instructor) or a doctorate degree (for a lecturer) in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution. In addition, the successful applicants will have experience teaching game and/or web mobile design, production, and development, as an instructor of record at the collegiate level for a minimum of two academic years and demonstrate evidence of teaching skills in their teaching statement submitted with their application.


Preference will be given to candidates who are either (1) proficient in modern script languages for development on one or more platforms such as full-stack web, mobile or games, or (2) have experience and skills related to art development for real-time interactive media development relating to 2D, 3D art for games and interactive media. An emphasis on handling online and/or large classes is desired.
