The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Sciences at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer position anticipated to begin August 2022.
The successful candidate will contribute to the Advertising-Public Relations (Ad-PR) program's mission by teaching four courses each semester ("4-4" load) at the undergraduate level, and service responsibilities, such as student advising (academic, professional and career), internship supervision, reviewing program entrance applications, participating in the academic life of the school (e.g., attending faculty meetings, participating in curriculum review/development, assessment of student learning, etc.), as well as serving on various committees.
By the time of appointment, applicants must hold a master's (for an instructor) or a doctorate degree (for a lecturer) in an appropriate discipline (Advertising, Communication, Mass Communication, Public Relations) from an accredited institution. Teaching experience in advertising and public relations at the university level is required.
Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching experience in the following courses: advertising principles, public relations writing, advertising copywriting, integrated Ad/PR campaigns. Experience in various delivery modes, including large lecture and small skills classes, online (web), or mixed-mode environments, is desirable. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability, interest, and preferably prior professional and/or academic experience interacting with the Central Florida advertising and public relations communities of practice.
