Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Information Officer (D-CIO), the Telecom and Communications Specialist supports the effective use and access of telecommunications information and resources. This position is responsible for administering and implementing the college's telecommunications moves, adds, and changes, affecting timely repairs and configuration changes of telecom equipment and systems; acting as liaison to telecom contractors and service providers, addressing telecommunications needs across all segments including local, long distance, Internet, voice and video conferencing.

Preferred and Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 5 years of VoIP support experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Microsoft support experience
  • Minimum 5 years of customer service experience
  • Associate degree in computer science, or related field, or equivalent experience

Required Experience

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and one dealing with many complex and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work professionally and frequently within classrooms, data closets, and employee offices
  • Ability to utilize related hardware and software such as Sharepoint, Powershell, and Teams, for managing users and securely sharing information.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices, and how they pertain to the Telecommunications role
