Summary: Supports the Director, Financial Aid in the planning, organization, and overall management of federal, state, and institutional aid. Financial Aid programs include grants, loans, scholarships, work study, and outside agency programs. The Assistant Director will assist with the day to day operations of the Financial Aid Department and will report to the Director, Financial Aid.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

Assists in supervising the Financial Aid staff responsible for federal, state and institutional financial aid. Plans, organizes, and coordinates Title IV programs, scholarships and veterans educational benefits. Assists the Director of Financial Aid with oversight responsibilities for Title IV policies and procedures. Provides Financial Aid assistance to students, parents, faculty, and staff on all types of aid administered through the Financial Aid Office. Authorizes the awarding of Federal Work Study (FWS) and Florida Work Experience Program (FWEP) funding to eligible students in compliance with Title IV and OSFA regulations. Authorizes fund disbursements for state and institutional funds to eligible students.  Conducts internal quality control review and analysis of Financial Aid files.  In consultation with management, establishes operational policy and procedures for internal controls and develops and recommends appropriate training. Develops and prepares training sessions within scope of capabilities, experience, and knowledge, based on review and analysis. Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.


Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree and three years experience in financial aid, finance, or other related areas. Successful results of criminal background check required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline and result orientated environment; two years of experience in a leadership role strongly preferred; strong organizational, analytical and time-management skills; proficient knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and policies; and reconciling and accounting experience. Experience with Federal Student Aid (FSA) systems such as COD, NSLDS, and CPS.


ANNUAL SALARY: $34,320 – 47,000 (Salary commensurate with experience. However, the College does not generally hire at the top of the range.)              


Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.  Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position.  A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
