Job Title Coordinator of Adult Education and Literacy Supportive Services Department Adult Education FLSA Status Exempt Job Type Staff Position Grade 9 Employee Type Full Time Hiring Range Commensurate with experience Grant Funded Yes Work Year 12 Months Work Year-Other Information 40 Hours - Flexible schedule to meet department needs Typical Work Schedule 40 Hours - Flexible schedule to meet department needs  Bargaining Unit Eligibility Yes-Staff Council Work Week 40 Hours Work Week-Other Information Special Instructions to Applicants Position Introduction n/a Position Summary Coordinate, develop, implement, and monitor the volunteer-based literacy tutoring program; adult education student recruitment, retention and assessment related projects, student supportive services, and outreach. Reports to Director of Adult Education Essential Functions and Responsibilities -         Recruitment, Retention, of Volunteers ?    Recruit and hire volunteers?    Facilitate orientations and training of Volunteers-         Planning and Coordination?    Plan annual activities ?    Schedule and place volunteers in conjunction with course schedule?    Coordinate special events such as volunteer recognition?    Coordinate recruitment events and outreach for the volunteer program-         Coordinate Volunteer Program?    Administer volunteer project grants?    Assure compliance with grant guidelines and meet grant objectives ?    Prepare volunteer program grant applications and reports?    Select off-campus locations and coordinate off-site tutoring ?    Coordinate volunteer training sessions?    Evaluate and select training materials?    Recommend training program revisions-         Reporting/Communicating?    Assure accurate and timely submission of records and reports?    Maintain records related to volunteers and student recruitment, retention, and assessment?    Assist Director of Adult Education with grant proposals, data collection, and reports?    Prepare and distribute information for instructors, volunteers, for AVC Program as related to recruitment, retention, and assessment issues?    Act as communication link between the College, off-site locations, and the community-         Provide daily or frequent direction to volunteer tutors-         Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish functions and responsibilities -         Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor Required Education Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution Other Required Qualifications -         Two years direct experience with instruction of adult students-         Experience in supervision of staff-         Experience in a volunteer literacy management program Desired Qualifications -         Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Adult Education or related area
-         Experience in grant writing and grant administration-         Certification in volunteer management Skills and Specifications -         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite-         Ability to learn technological applications-         Knowledge of educational support services-         Willingness and ability to make decisions that govern the activities of others and impacts how the unit provides services and support to customers-         Ability to work a flexible schedule-         Commitment and respect for diversity, equity, inclusiveness and the MCC Behaviors of Excellence-         Commitment to the College mission, vision, values, and goals -         Ability to perform all of the essential functions, skills, and specifications of the position Location Main Campus
