Job Summary
The Transfer Admissions Counselor works collaboratively with Admissions staff in recruiting transfer, transient, post-baccalaureate, and former students to Georgia Southern University. They serve as an official representative of Georgia Southern University at Transfer college fairs, spotlight visits, and other recruitment activities within an assigned territory. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Transfer and Adult Recruitment.

  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Assist in planning and implementing campus visit events (Open Houses, Transfer Events, Community Engagement)
  • Review and manage Transfer Pathway programs with local technical and community colleges
  • Travel extensively (including overnight, week-long trips) to attend and present at college fairs, two-year colleges, admissions events and other community events to recruit for Georgia Southern University
  • Plan strategic recruitment initiatives to meet enrollment goals for transfer, transient, post-baccalaureate, and non-traditional undergraduate students
  • Maintain regular correspondence with prospective students by telephone and email
  • Serve as a daily counselor on call, helping any student or supporter seeking information regarding admission, and host daily information sessions to campus visitors
  • Counsel students on all admissions-related items including the application process, program of study options, campus choice, residency and transfer credits
  • Work closely with Admissions operations and processing team for file review, decisions, and transfer credit articulation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

Required Experience
  • One or more years of related work experience

  • One or more years of experience in college admissions or enrollment office

Proposed Salary
$33,300 - $35,500

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

  • Knowledge of office management practices and procedures
  • Knowledgeable about University admissions policy and procedures
