Department Summary
The College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) is a large and complex college that offers the core liberal arts and sciences curriculum at the University of Oregon. The majority of undergraduates at UO go on to pursue a degree in one of the College's 40+ undergraduate degree programs. CAS also has 30+ doctoral programs that produce approximately 75% of the PhDs at the University of Oregon. CAS is home to approximately 750 faculty, over 1000 graduate employees, and 200 administrative employees. CAS has annual budgeted operations expenditures of approximately $156 million and utilizes slightly more than half a million square feet of space spread over 50 separate buildings both on- and off-campus.

Position Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Director of Shared Services is responsible for the planning and implementation of a new shared administrative services model for CAS. Upon implementation of the new model, this position will direct and oversee the operations and management of the Shared Service Centers (SSCs).

This position has broad and general oversight of the application of CAS's shared service processes, policies, and practices. It is responsible for clear and timely communication with the academic units and Administrative Service Units (ASUs) about shared services rollout, updates to policy and practice, and other matters related to the Shared Service Centers. This position is responsible for managing relationships with academic unit customers and ensuring that service commitments between units and the Shared Service Centers are met. This position collaborates with supervisors and HR practitioners to evaluate processes and procedures necessary for high-quality service.



Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree with seven years of experience (or nine years experience with no Bachelor's degree) that includes a combination of fiscal operation management, human resources management, and project and change management
Two years of work experience in higher education
Five years of supervisory and people management experience, including performance management
Demonstrated progressive responsibility working in a complex organization across functions, teams, cultures, and levels

Ability to engage in strategic planning
Demonstrated capacity to support and encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
Ability to develop trust and credibility

At least ten years' experience that includes a combination of fiscal operation management, human resources management, and project and change management
Supervisory experience with responsibility for ten or more employees
