HCC is seeking an experienced Statics instructor to teach a 15-week, Fall 2021 semester course. The course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:55 to 5:15 p.m. on the HCC campus.
Using the vector approach and free body diagrams, this course deals with formulation and application of the laws governing the equilibrium of physical objects under the influence of general forces. The major topics include application of vector diagrams, equilibrium force systems, analysis of frames and trusses, internal forces in beams, friction, centroids, moments of inertia and fluid statics.
Adjunct faculty work with the academic division dean in creating syllabi, tests, and other documents related to instruction; prepare and distribute a class syllabus and review with students;; deliver a full session of instruction as assigned in the format required by the college; assess student outcomes through exams, quizzes and other graded assignments; communicate with students to support learning and goal achievement, referring students to services available to them as needed; and submit required attendance, grades and other information on time based on the requirements of the Academic Affairs division.
Faculty members are expected to adhere to FERPA records protection laws, stay current in methods and software needed to deliver instruction as assigned; follow all College practices and procedures, including those included in the Human Resources Procedures Manual; and perform other duties as assigned by the division Dean.
The College's Fall 2021 semester begins Monday, August 23, and ends Saturday, December 11.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.
