Full Time Faculty Position/Program Head, BFA Wig and Makeup Design & Technology

Wig and Makeup Design & Technology Faculty

The Theatre School at DePaul University invites applications for a full-time Term Faculty to serve as head of its new BFA Wig and Makeup Design & Technology program (one year contract, renewable annually). The Theatre School is an urban multicultural conservatory located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant theatre community. The ideal candidate will be a great teacher, accomplished professional, strong collaborator, visionary designer/technician, and a proactive leader.  The position begins September of 2022.

DePaul University is a thriving multi-faceted Catholic, Vincentian, and urban university with ten colleges, seven campuses, and enrollment of over 20,000 students. The Theatre School, located on the university’s Lincoln Park campus two miles north of the Chicago Loop, enrolls 460 students in 15 undergraduate and 3 graduate programs. Our faculty (27 full-time and 60+ part-time) includes leading Chicago theatre artists across all disciplines. Faculty members are active participants in the Chicago theatre community.

The Theatre School’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Wig and Makeup Design & Technology gives students the opportunity to explore and expand their artistic and visual expression in a conservatory setting while providing practical experience. Modeled after a professional Wig and Makeup Artist’s process, the program provides training in wig construction and styling, makeup design and application, styling of actors’ hair, and creation of makeup prosthetics. The program allows students to collaborate with actors, directors, designers, technicians, and our professional makeup shop staff. The skills learned in the BFA Wig and Makeup Design & Technology program will prepare students for careers in theatre, film, and other entertainment industries.
