Job Description

 

The Department of Finance is determined to continue its way to become a leading European finance department benefitting from its location in a truly international country and in one of the main financial centres in Europe. To accomplish this, it is looking for an Associate Professor or an Assistant Professor (with Tenure Track) with specialization in Digital Finance who will conduct impactful research leading to publication in leading finance journals, deliver strong teaching experience, contribute to study program development and acquire external research funding through active engagement with industry.

The Assistant/Associate Professor shall play an active role in further progressing and developing the Department of Finance as a leading European finance group. The package we offer is commensurate with this ambition.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Qualifications...

  • The candidate must have shown promise to publish in top finance and/or economics journals (for freshly graduated candidates) or accomplished publishing in top finance journals for more seasoned candidates.
  • The candidate shall show clear signs of continued productivity of highest quality research (e.g., a strong pipeline of working papers and work-in-progress projects) with good chances of publications in the top finance and/or economics journals.
  • It would be considered an asset if the candidate’s profile includes documented expertise with respect to aspects of digital finance such as cryptocurrencies, cryptoassets and tokenization, ML/AI techniques to work with big data or digital infrastructure in finance.
  • The candidate shall have teaching experience, at the undergraduate as well as the graduate level, in any area of finance and, in particular, in digital finance.
  • Additional requirements include either a PhD in Finance or Economics or in IT or related disciplines.
  • The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in English and in one of the two official languages of Luxembourg: French or German. The University encourages its staff to learn the other official language and provides access to language courses to this end.
