Job Description


The Research Coordinator, for the Department of Clinical Sciences, is a full-time, professional position which coordinates proposal preparation, submission and grant management for principal investigators (PIs). The position ensures compliance with regulations and reporting requirements. This position reports to the Business Officer, Department of Clinical Sciences.
This position collaborates with the Department of Clinical Sciences accounting team to facilitate the proposal and research project management process.

A hybrid work schedule to include in-office as well as virtual work hours is negotiable depending on the experience of the candidate. Remote work candidates will be considered however on-campus presence will be necessary  at least  the first year of employment for training and acclimation to the team and department. 

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, sciences, communications, or a related field 
  • At least one year of progressively complex research project management experience 
  • At least one year of experience creating budgets and budget justifications 
  • Demonstrated strong written communication skills 
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat 
  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by proposed start date. The Department of Clinical Sciences will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of progressively complex research project management experience 
  • Experience preparing and submitting scientific research proposals at a Department level 
  • Knowledge and understanding of OMB Uniform Guidance cost accounting principles and other regulatory guidelines 
  • Knowledge of Kuali Research Proposal system (KR) 
  • Knowledge of federal sponsors’ proposal submission portals and formats 
  • Familiarity with the scientific research process 
  • Demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer service skills, working in a team environment, collaborative approach to work, and building effective professional relationships
