Under the general guidance of the Administrative Director, the Project Coordinator will work closely with the Illinois Coalition for Higher Education in Prison (IL-CHEP) Steering Committee and the Institute on Public Safety and Social Justice (IPSSJ) staff to coordinate projects, meetings, events, and annual conferences for (IL-CHEP). The coordinator will also assist in expanding and strengthening the organizational and individual membership of IL-CHEP while also collaborating with organizational partners to foster program alumni engagement. Leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of the Institute on Public Safety and Social Justice organization and the institution as well as supports culture development and management efforts.

- High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years documented experience coordinating projects and/or in a student facing role required. Experience teaching in a correctional setting preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Serves as primary coordinator of community partner member outreach, including IL-CHEP membership recruitment and registry
- Coordinates and maintain a Higher Education in Prison program alumni network database
- Assists with program execution across IL-CHEP projects and initiatives
- Assists Steering Committee and IL-CHEP staff with event planning and coordination for a variety of conferences, presentations, and student events
- Assists with work-study and Community Service Practicum student supervision
- Manages IPSSJ executive's email, calendar, including making appointments and prioritizing the most sensitive matters
- Organizes IPSSJ meetings, including scheduling, sending reminders, and organizing catering when necessary
- Coordinates, convenes IPSSJ Advisory Board for projects related to IPSSJ and its interests
- Other duties as assigned and/or required
Work Environment (Physical Demands): The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
