The Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is pleased to announce an opening for a full-time District Early Childhood and Youth Coordinator to join our dynamic Maine Roads to Quality Early Care and Education Professional Development Network (MRTQ PDN) team.

The District and Early Childhood and Youth Coordinator (DC) will serve as a resource to the early childhood and youth workforce in a designated district in Maine. This position covers Hancock and Penobscot counties and Statewide as needed. The DC is an expert in early childhood and youth best practices ages birth through age 8 and build strong relationships with practitioners to provide technical assistance in a variety of forms (web-based, on-site consultation, facilitation of peer-to-peer groups, coaching). The DC will partner with state and local partners to meet the needs of early childhood and youth workforce in the district assigned and statewide when needed. The DC will work within a large staff team as well as work independently.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of family childcare, center-based childcare, out-of-school time care, public preschool, head start
  • Knowledge of early childhood development.
  • Skill in observation assessment, relationship-based practice, adult-learning theory, facilitation, and evaluation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of practitioner types and personalities.
  • Promotes inclusion and employs culturally sensitive pedagogy.
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Follows established professional, ethical, and legal standards.
  • Respects and maintains the confidentiality of children, families, and practitioners.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field 
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Early Childhood Education 
  • Experience working in childcare setting 
  • Successfully pass required background checks
Other Information:

This position will pay a salary of $51,000
