Research Compliance Manager

Posting Summary:

Reporting to the Research Compliance Director, the individual in this position will have primary responsibility for assuring the College's compliance with all federal and state requirements for the protection of human subjects in the research and the ethical conduct of research.

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Compliance Manager serves as the primary contact for compliance issues involving human subjects research at Teachers College (the "College"). The Compliance Manager is responsible for the continued development and implementation of a post-IRB approval monitoring program of research studies involving human subjects, as well as other quality improvement activities.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) the field of social or behavioral sciences, or a related field is required. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in quality assurance, IRB operations or IRB /Reliance processes. Proficient with relevant computer programs.

Familiarity with Office for Human Research Protection (OHRP); Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA); Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA); Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); Food and Drug Administration (FDA); and Federal Regulations pertaining to human subject research (45 CFR 46, 21 CFR 50 and 21 CFR 56).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's or other advanced degrees, in social or behavioral sciences background, or a related field. Certified IRB Manager (CIM) or Certified IRB Professional (CIP) is preferred. Maintenance of membership in a related professional organization and conference attendance, such as Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R). Experience with quantitative and qualitative research or secondary data analysis. Possess teaching (or instructional/educational) experience
