Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Antimicrobial Agents Faculty

The College of Pharmacy (pharmacy.osu.edu), in partnership with the Infectious Diseases Institute (idi.osu.edu) at The Ohio State University (OSU), invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, with expertise in clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) to study antimicrobial drugs.  The specific focus of this position is on conducting innovative and cutting-edge clinical and/or translational research and applying PK/PD concepts to contribute to solving the public health crisis of antimicrobial resistance.  Depending on candidate expertise and qualifications, a patient care component could be part of position duties.

 

The successful candidate will join the division of Outcomes and Translational Sciences https://pharmacy.osu.edu/outcomes-and-translational-sciences in the College of Pharmacy and will complement ongoing research in infectious diseases at The Ohio State University.  This research is enhanced by the presence of the OSU Infectious Diseases Institute and will be done in close collaboration with the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (https://medicine.osu.edu/departments/pharmacy/asp).  The division of Outcomes and Translational Sciences in the College of Pharmacy is home to the Translational Sciences Graduate Studies Specialization (https://pharmacy.osu.edu/translational-science-graduate-studies), and the University has numerous interdisciplinary graduate education programs.

 

This position is part of a substantial University Discovery Themes investment in Infectious Diseases to enhance cutting-edge research on infectious disease treatment and antimicrobial resistance (https://idi.osu.edu/our-work) This investment builds upon existing strengths and a culture of academic collaboration to foster cross-disciplinary research with sustained global impact. Collaboration is envisioned with the cadre of outstanding OSU investigators specializing in the study of clinically significant bacterial pathogens including Salmonella typhimurium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Acinetobacter baumannii.  OSU will be uniquely positioned to respond to the Department of Health and Human Services National Action Plan for Combatting Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria 2020-2025 (https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/carb-national-action-plan-2020-2025.pdf).

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications: PharmD with PK/PD fellowship training, with or without Post Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) Infectious Disease training and certificate, or equivalent experience.  Candidates who have completed other training programs in PK/PD with relevant experience (e.g., PharmD/Ph.D., PhD, or PharmD/Master’s Degree) also will be considered.  Experience working with PK/PD applications to clinical or translational study, with a focus on antimicrobial drugs and antimicrobial resistance.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated research productivity, evidence of an independently funded research program, experience working with interdisciplinary research teams, and mentoring members of underrepresented groups.  University teaching experience.
