Job Description

 

  • Serve as Tri-County Technical College’s Chief Academic Officer who promotes and builds relevant, viable, innovative, and high-quality programs for lifelong learning that supports student success in both credit and non-credit programs. Provide leadership in matters of academic strategy, exploring, developing, launching, and sustaining educational initiatives consistent with the College’s mission. Contribute to the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the College’s plans for diversity, inclusion and equity; data analytics; technology; and communications/public relations as they apply to Academic Affairs. Oversee the assessment and enhancement of the content and delivery of credit and non-credit offerings to promote relevance, viability, and quality through actions that include systematic program review, accreditation, stakeholder feedback, etc.

 

  • Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of Academic Affairs units on an ongoing basis. Work with direct reports to plan, develop and implement the annual budget for the Academic Affairs division of the College; approve expenditures; and manage budget.  

 

  • Provide supervision of Academic Affairs personnel, departments, and programs. Ensure the continual professional development of employees from orientation through the different phases of their careers. Ensure communication with faculty by working closely with the faculty senate to promote quality and shared governance.

 

  • Oversee quality, customer-driven workforce services that promote financial stability and economic growth for individuals, businesses and communities. Ability to apply workforce development principles to ensure that pioneering workforce training programs respond to current and future needs and expectations of business and industry.  

 

  • Coordinate with the Vice President Student Support and Engagement Division to develop and deliver a holistic educational experience by (a)establishing services and processes that support instructional programs and functions and (b) coordinating with faculty to establish procedures and processes to support co-curricular programs and functions.



  • Serve as a key member of the President’s executive staff and work collaboratively with various constituents to recommend academic policies, procedures, and personnel. Enhance and refine strong partnerships with various constituents to advocate for the college.  

 

  • Function as a key contributor in the College’s strategic planning and lead all aspects of academic planning.

 

  • Perform other duties as delegated by the President.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required: A master's degree plus seven (7) years of progressively responsible related work experience.   Progressively responsible work experience should include academic and administrative experience, teaching, supervising full-time faculty, administering premier academic and workforce development programs, and proven attainment in improving educational outcomes and student success.

 

Preferred: Doctoral degree; progressively responsible academic leadership experience in teaching and learning functions at a community or technical college; leadership/management experience with credit instructional programs in a community or technical college setting; demonstrated skill in leading complex initiatives to successful conclusion with diverse constituents; exceptional oral and written communication skills; creative and courageous leader and problem solver.
