Faculty / Directorate

The Faculty of Health and Life sciences (HLS) is a large Faculty that offers education across a number of health and social care courses. Home to four specialist schools - Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Leicester School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine, and Leicester School of Pharmacy - the Faculty educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society.

Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work as a Senior member of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry team, under the direction of the Team Leader. You will provide a comprehensive and efficient technical service, for staff and students, primarily to support the use of the Faculty's Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (LC-MS), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) in practical teaching sessions, undergraduate project work, and research projects. You will be required to work alongside other technicians to support additional teaching areas within the Faculty when needed.

Ideal Candidate

You should have recent experience and technical knowledge of the operation and maintenance of mass spectrometer systems and be educated to degree standard in a relevant science subject or be able to demonstrate significant practice-based experience in a similar role. Experience of biological sample preparation would be advantageous.

The post holder must have the ability to confidently communicate technical information through a variety of methods to staff and students at all levels and possess effective time management and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of pertinent Health and Safety regulations and the ability to develop and design safe working procedures is also essential.

You must be highly motivated and well organized with the ability to work without direct supervision within a team environment.
