The University of Southern Maine is seeking a full-time Campus Human Resources Project Assistant to support our dynamic Human Resources Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an applicant who is interested in further developing their administrative and project management skills and abilities in a high-production, multi-faceted HR organization where self-direction, efficiency and teamwork are appreciated and respected.  This is also a terrific opportunity to pursue a higher ed/advanced degree through a generous tuition waiver benefit for employees and their dependents.

The Project Assistant is a key member of the HR team. The individual will be someone who understands and appreciates the value and importance of the administrative role within a high functioning team. This role will be responsible for a wide range of administrative and project support for the Human Resources team. This includes coordination and oversight of complex meetings and associated tasks/projects, appreciation for excellent customer service, proven ability to work with Excel and other Microsoft Office programs and more. The position has responsibility for tasks in which independent judgment, initiative, and confidentiality are critical. Knowledge of technology, logistics, communication, and great customer service make this position a significant contributor on the Human Resources team.  Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential. This position serves as the point of contact for many constituencies. Thus, excellent communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction are critical. This is a full-time 40 hour/week position with working hours of 8:00AM to 4:30PM.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 60 credits or more of higher education or equivalent work experience and training. 
  • Three years of administrative or project support or comparable experience.
  • Ability to work well with many people at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer proficiency - intermediate to advance (ex. MS Office, Web, etc)
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and care
