Full time Biology/Biotechnology/Life Sciences

Job Description

The Stites Laboratory applies quantitative and systems approaches (both experimental and computational) to the study of cancer.  We primarily focus upon the RAS pathway due to its importance in cancer, the abundance of data on the pathway and its molecular components, and the ready availability of excellent reagents and methods.  We repurpose these data and methods to study RAS and cancer from a systems perspective.  The laboratory is comprised of both experimental biologists and computational biologists.

 Position Description:

The postdoctoral fellow will be the primary lead for two or more research projects that investigate computational and mathematical approaches for studying cancer, other disease, and/or pathogenic mutations.  We are particularly interested in developing predictive models for pathogenic mutations, their impact on disease, and how they respond to treatment.  We are also particularly interested in developing a deeper understanding of the systems foundations of disease.

Projects that are 100% computational and that split time between computational and experimental tasks are both possible. Collaborations with experimental scientists in the laboratory and/or in other laboratories are encouraged.  Opportunities to be trained in areas of experimental are possible for some projects.    Collaborative work with other computational scientists, is encouraged as part of this position.

Education:
Ph.D. in a quantitative or computational discipline, or a Ph.D. in biology with strong computational and quantitative skills

Experience:
Experience applying mathematical and computational skills to biological problems.

Application Instructions:
Please submit CV, names and contact information for 3 references, and a statement of research interests.
