Job Description

The Extension Associate, under general supervision, performs programmatic and outreach responsibilities for the 4H/Youth Development (4-H) unit in the Cooperative Extension Program (CEP). This position will directly support the Health Houston Initiative (HHI).

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

  • Executes and participates in county programs
  • Assists Extension Agent(s) in activities of youth and adult enrollment such as, but not limited to performing various clerical task and providing support in secretarial duties; responsible for organizing files.
  • Participates in trainings, demonstrations, and county meetings as required by supervisor.
  • Develops resources, such as publications, videos, internet articles, news releases, and other online resources.
  • Communicates and plans with other faculty/staff, researchers, and educators to identify and link research with outreach/education application to the project.
  • Helps train volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with social media management, video productions, and develop marketing material.
  • Experience in one or more of the following programmatic areas: 4-H, Youth Programming, Agriculture, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Robotics and/or Coding
