Job Title Manager of Nursing Laboratory Department Nursing Program FLSA Status Exempt Job Type Administrative Position Grade A1 Employee Type Full Time Hiring Range Commensurate with experience Grant Funded No Work Year 10 Months Work Year-Other Information Typical Work Schedule Flexible schedule to meet department needs to include possible evenings and weekends Bargaining Unit Eligibility No Work Week 40 Hours Work Week-Other Information Special Instructions to Applicants Position Introduction The manager of the nursing laboratory oversees all aspects of the nursing laboratory and simulation hospital. This position includes teaching and evaluation of skills, simulation, and remediation of nursing students. Other teaching responsibilities may include lab, clinical, and theory instruction. Position Summary The manager of the nursing lab oversees all aspects of the nursing laboratory while providing experiential learning opportunities for nursing students in the form of skills practice, simulation, competence assessment and remediation.  Reports to Director of Nursing Essential Functions and Responsibilities -         Oversee all aspects of the nursing laboratory-         Develop and conduct clinical simulation scenarios utilizing SimMan and other high and low fidelity equipment that meet the needs of the faculty-         Evaluate student's nursing skills-         Video tape and evaluate student skill demonstrations as required-         Maintain open lab hours for student skill practice and assist students as needed-         Work with students to complete instructor required remediation-         Maintain supply inventory as required by all instructors-         Maintain all lab equipment in working order-         Supervise student use of computers and all other equipment in the laboratory-         Maintain an inventory and check-out system for all equipment and audio-visual materials, if appropriate-         Develop and maintain a lab policy and procedure manual-         Support and participate in the College's commitment to continuous improvement and the AQIP process of accreditation through appropriate participation in Action Team activities-         Substitute teach in lab for instructor when needed-         Teaching responsibilities in Nursing and Nursing Assistant. Teaching responsibilities/need will vary each semester-         Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to accomplish function and responsibilities-         Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor Required Education Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution Other Required Qualifications -         Master's Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution-         Current Illinois R.N. License-         CPR Instructor certification by the American Heart Association -         Nursing work experience in a hospital setting within the past five years -         Two years of leadership experience either in directly managing employees or in a project management role

Desired Qualifications -         Minimum of one (1) year of acute care nursing experience-         Experience with SimMan and other simulation equipment Skills and Specifications -         Self-motivated, self-directed, and the ability to work independently -         Strong interpersonal skills-         Demonstrate an attention to detail-         Ability to manage multiple tasks and to prioritize-         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with databases and web searches-         Excellent organization and coordination abilities, including the ability to plan, organize, and supervise a variety of lab activities -         Knowledge of inventory management -         Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends -         Strong communication skills -         Ability to grow with the technology and philosophical direction implemented by the department and college-         Ability to work independently yet have a strong team orientation and to develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organization-         Strong collaboration skills-         Commitment and respect for diversity and the MCC Behaviors of Excellence-         Commitment to the College mission, vision, strategies and goals -         Ability to perform all of the essential functions, skills, and specifications of the position Location Main Campus
