The Department of Public Safety at the University of Southern Maine is seeking applications for part-time Reserve Police Officers on the Portland and Gorham USM campuses.

Police Officers at the University of Southern Maine are specialists, with a strong commitment to the community policing and problem solving philosophy. In addition to performing general law enforcement, safety and emergency response functions, officers with the Department of Public Safety enjoy the satisfaction of a close working relationship with our community. This is a part-time, temporary academic year appointment with a possibility of further reappointment. Hours and shifts are variable depending upon scheduling needs; there is a possibility of regular minimum hours per month, with extra hours as available.

Pay for these positions is between $18.50/hr and $25.00/hr depending on experience and certification. These positions are not eligible for University benefits.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • MCJA LEPS (Phase II) or BLETP certification (out of state waivers may be considered)
  • Valid Class C Maine driver's license
