D’Youville College, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, is pleased to announce the search for an Assistant/Associate Professor and Founding Program Director of Speech Language Pathology in the School of Health Professions.  The School of Health Professions seeks a full-time, tenure track Assistant/Associate or Full Professor of Speech Language Pathology for the newly created Master’s of Science in Speech Language Pathology.  The program director/faculty member will teach courses in the program, participate in program development and assessment, serve on departmental and college-wide committees and other areas of institutional service.  The program director will also be expected to engage in scholarship, keep an ongoing professional presence and provide support and guidance related to initial and ongoing accreditation of the program including program assessment and implementation, faculty recruitment and retention as well as enrollment initiatives. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • writing the application for candidacy to ASHA and all subsequent accreditation activities and reports
  • planning, program management, and implementation of the new master’s level program in Speech-Language Pathology
  • curricular/clinical and academic policies and student success and progression
  • faculty hiring, evaluation, scholarship and professional development
  • assessment (course, clinical, program) and accreditation
  • service on college-wide committees and collaborate across schools and departments on campus initiatives
  • teaching and mentoring students
  • providing leadership and direction to the unit

The program director will be responsible for writing the initial application for accreditation, as well as shepherding the program through the New York State Education Department for program approval which may include refining the curricula, and admissions requirements, etc. The program director will, teach, advise and mentor students in the Speech Language Pathology Program and/or other programs within the college or school, as appropriate.  The program director will also pursue a scholarly agenda in the field, serve on department, school-wide and institutional-wide committees, ad hoc task forces, and work groups. The program director will exhibit strong communication skills, proactive problem-solving skills and work well in teams.  The program director will be responsible for creating and maintaining a culture of inclusion that engages students and values each person’s contribution to the shared D’Youville educational mission. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, practice, teaching, service, and/or administrative experience, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants will have professional experience as a speech language pathologist, audiologist, communications disorders, hearing science or related field and display strong leadership, organization, technology literacy, interpersonal ability, time management and self-motivation.  In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate evidence of working successfully with diverse populations and meet the following:

  • Doctoral degree in speech language pathology, audiology, or in speech, language and hearing science, communication science disorders or related field;
  • Administrative and/or management experience in an academic or clinical setting;
  • Must be eligible for or hold a NYS license to practice in professional area of expertise;
  • Exceptional competence in his or her field.
