Job Title Library Services Specialist Department Library FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Type Staff Position Grade 7 Employee Type Full Time Hiring Range Commensurate with experience Grant Funded No Work Year 12 Months Work Year-Other Information Typical Work Schedule 40 Hours - Flexible schedule to meet department needs  Bargaining Unit Eligibility Yes-Staff Council Work Week 40 Hours Work Week-Other Information Special Instructions to Applicants Position Introduction Provides library technical services and copy cataloging assistance.  Position Summary Provides library technical services and copy cataloging assistance.  Primary responsibilities include processing physical and electronic library materials, copy cataloging, coordinating routine technical services activities, and assisting with circulation tasks. Reports to Executive Director of Library Essential Functions and Responsibilities -         Monitor and maintain records for a variety of library accounts, including but not limited to library books, subscriptions, and electronic resources-         Perform copy cataloging in Alma using records from the Network Zone and Community Zone, OCLC Connexion, and/or vendor records-         Coordinate the management of the library's technical services operations with Executive Director of the Library and the Cataloging/Collection Development Librarian-         Collect and report data and statistics as requested by the Executive Director of the Library-         Collaborate with external vendors and publishers to set up order profiling and invoicing-         Monitor orders through the receiving process and follow up as necessary-         Manage library and technical services supplies inventory and repair damaged library materials-         Coordinate the acquisition and physical processing of library materials, textbooks, and reserve items-         Coordinate the library inventory process and participate in collection maintenance and space-planning activities-         Develop and maintain a comprehensive and updated procedure and training manual for library staff-         Serve as a backup for circulation staff-         Enter data and extract information from the College's ERP or other College software/systems-         Maintain an up-to-date central filing system-         Participate in activities that further the College's mission and goals-         Work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders, and vendors to accomplish library functions and responsibilities-         Maintain currency in college processes and technologies-         Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor Required Education High School graduate or equivalent Other Required Qualifications -         Library Technical Associate (LTA) degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent -         Knowledge of current cataloging standards and practices-         Knowledge of overall technical services operations-         Demonstrated willingness to upgrade skills by attending on- and off-campus training sessions Desired Qualifications -         Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent college-level coursework-         Recent experience in an academic library-         Two years of recent hands-on library technical services experience-         Alma systems experience Skills and Specifications -         Ability to learn technological applications-         Manual dexterity-         Demonstrated successful work experience with:o    Microsoft Office and a Windows environmento    Advanced online searchingo    Specialized library databases (e.g. Alma and OCLC Connexion)-         Comprehensive knowledge of library functions and organization-         Familiarity with book trade industry-         Understanding of MARC/RDA format, LCSH, and Library of Congress Classifications-         Ability to work under pressure-         Ability to work with students, staff, faculty, and administration-         Ability to represent the college to external vendors and on internal committees-         Ability to work for extended periods on detailed projects-         Ability to manage a variety of ongoing projects-         Ability to determine problems and create individual solutions-         Ability to safely handle - push/pull book trucks up to 40 pounds (heavy books, packages, etc.) and lift up to 25 pounds unassisted-         Commitment and respect for diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion, and the MCC Behaviors of Excellence-         Commitment to the College mission, vision, values, and goals -         Ability to perform all of the essential functions, skills, and specifications of the position Location Main Campus
