Job Description


Louisiana Tech University currently seeks a permanent full-time, 12-month Director of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics. The position includes managing projects that pertain to implementing IERP business intelligence solutions across the University; leveraging data for predictive analysis, strategic planning, visualization, and internal and external reporting; assisting with data compilation and analysis; identifying gaps in the workflow and implement appropriate solutions to automate business processes; and offering data-driven insights.

Job Duties: 

  • Automate business process to simplify reporting responsibilities of the University to agencies, including IPEDS, SACSCOC, Board of Regents, University of Louisiana System, etc.
  • Ensure timely production and submission of accurate reports.
  • Fulfill both internal and external reporting-related ad hoc requests.
  • Compile appropriate data for surveys and help complete them.
  • Architect the design and implementation of the new data warehouse while ensuring proper confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Create efficient and appropriate data models.
  • Work closely with data administrators to load data from various sources into the data warehouse.
  • Write concise and complex queries to retrieve the essential data from the warehouse and manage data transformation to facilitate data visualization.
  • Build dynamic dashboards to get a better insight into the data and share them with stakeholders.
  • Perform data analysis using suitable principles and tools to identify any potential gaps and opportunities.
  • Use prediction models to predict the future state of relevant matters. Offer suggestions and recommendations as needed.
  • Contribute to the implementation and management of the ERP system.
  • Identify gaps in workflow and designs appropriate business processes to automate data extraction and output.
  • Work with programmers in developing and maintaining databases, web‑based reporting portal/dashboard, and other assigned duties.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Possess the minimum of a Master's degree with 6 plus years of relevant IT experience.
  • Must have experience in relational database design, development, optimization, and management.
  • Must have the ability to create and maintain quality data warehouse.
  • Must be able to write complex and efficient SQL statements.
  • Has experience using relevant business intelligence and data analytics tools like Tableau, Power BI, Rapid Miner, R, MySQL Workbench, MS Excel, etc.
  • Has attention to detail and flexibility to adapt to changing technology and work environments.
  • Has the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, problem-solve, offer viable solutions, and think critically.
  • Has project management, system and user testing, and writing/reading/editing code experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has experience working with student data.
  • Familiar with Workday business processes, reporting, and integrations.

Language Skills

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as, interpersonal skills. 

Reasoning Ability

Must have ability to multi-task and engage in the gathering, examining, and analyzing information to arrive at solutions or recommendations to take appropriate action as required. 

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5:00PM. Must be able to meet regular and predictable attendance standards.

Annual Salary: Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits packages are available, including group health, dental and life insurance, and retirement plan.
