The Assistant Director for Trades and Apprenticeships provides outreach, coordination, and support to the Director for Workforce Pathways in the trades, manufacturing, and apprenticeships; and to enable the development of new initiatives, including the development of new programs and apprenticeships and strengthening of existing programs, including programs at the Leading Edge facility at Edgewood and other external locations.
Duties include responding to new program development individually and as requested by the Director; providing oversight of the Leading Edge Technology Center facility and other curriculum delivery locations; program development and evaluation in the manufacturing technology and other workforce trades programs; ensuring efficient class development and scheduling; communicating with local and national businesses and government agencies; and providing support for small business development and special events. Other duties include maintaining apprenticeship compliance with state and/or federal law, budget oversight and development of revenue projections, assisting with the planning and implementation of marketing and special events; serving on committees, and performing other duties as assigned.
This is an exempt, professional staff position.
A bachelor’s degree and one to three years of experience in a workforce development setting to include program development, budget oversight, supervision of staff, and marketing programs and events are required.
Other requirements include knowledge of trades training and apprenticeship programs; ability to plan and implement events; familiarity with the grant writing process; familiarity with simulation machines and software related to trades and industry training; and excellent communication skills. Knowledge of state and federal compliance requirements for apprenticeship programs is preferred.
