Job Description


McDaniel College is seeking candidates with a background in Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering, or related fields, to join the Department of Physics at McDaniel College to begin in August of 2022. Position level is flexible and will be commensurate with background and experience. Review of applications will begin on Monday, November 1, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.

The Department of Physics is in the process of establishing an engineering track that would prepare undergraduate students who want a liberal arts education, but who are also very interested in engineering. The candidate would be responsible for shaping and growing this new track at McDaniel. The ideal candidate will also have a passion for teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment and be able to include undergraduates in significant research projects.

The teaching responsibilities include both introductory physics courses and advanced undergraduate courses to support the new engineering track. The faculty member would be expected to develop an active research program that complements existing areas of undergraduate research in the sciences at McDaniel College. The faculty member would also be expected to contribute to the overall mission of the College.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D (or on track to complete a Doctoral program by the hiring date) in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or a related, engineering discipline.
  • College-level teaching experience and an interest in developing an undergraduate research program.
  • Strong communication skills.
