California State University Dominguez Hills was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University System. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 14,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Located on a 346-acre site in the South Bay portion of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, CSU Dominguez Hills has a highly pluralistic student body, which includes a significant number of non-traditional, working adult students as well as approximately 2,000 students enrolled in distance learning programs statewide. The University, with its five Academic Colleges, has more than 300 full-time faculty members and is situated in an area characterized by an extraordinary heterogeneity of people, and an extensive array of high technology industries and professional services.

Conditions of Employment:

Position Information:

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Department: College of Arts and Humanities

The College of Arts and Humanities is the center for artistic and humanities activities at the university. The College contributes to the development of Basic Skills, General Education, Teacher Preparation, and prominent majors and minors. Through its exciting array of programs, students are presented with many choices that will shape the personal and professional lives.

Major Job Duties:

Under supervision of the Associate Dean to the College of Arts and Humanities department the Student Success Center Coordinator, provides a basic academic support to Arts and Humanities students and, logistical support to the Advisors in the Student Success Center, such as contacting students regarding advising appointments and connecting students to appropriate university resources. This incumbent will provide confidential assistance and follow all FERPA guidelines related to student academic records and assist advisors with the follow-through on the resolution of student issues and concerns. In cooperation with Student Success Center advisors and the Associate Dean, plan and coordinate outreach efforts including advising workshops, strategy sessions with campus advising units, and public events such as New Toro Admit Day and New Student Orientations. Maintain an active data management agenda, including coordinating reports/queries and tracking spreadsheets. Incumbent will coordinate tasks, sets priorities, interpret different academic policies and procedures, and communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff, via in-person and by telephone and electronic communication.

Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing.

Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews; clearly express ideas and recommendations orally; write clear and concise reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred

Required Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this classification is $3,411 to $4,173 monthly.
